Carex alma merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan sturdy sedge. Nama ilmiah Carex alma diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Liberty Hyde Bailey pada tahun 1889.
