Carex brunnea subsp. occidentalis adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Ethiopia hingga Somalia utara. Nama ilmiah Carex brunnea subsp. occidentalis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Kaare Arnstein Lye pada tahun 1996.
