Carex echinata merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang. Nama ilmiah Carex echinata pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Johan Andreas Murray pada tahun 1770.
