Carex hystericina merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang. Nama ilmiah Carex hystericina pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Gotthilf Heinrich Ernst Muhlenberg pada tahun 1805.
