Carex illota merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang. Nama ilmiah Carex illota pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Liberty Hyde Bailey pada tahun 1889.
