Carex schiedeana merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Meksiko. Nama ilmiah Carex schiedeana pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Gustav Kunze pada tahun 1842.
