Carex scirpoidea merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan northern singlespike sedge. Nama ilmiah Carex scirpoidea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis André Michaux pada tahun 1803.
