Carex stricta adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada bagian timur hingga Amerika Serikat bagian tengah dan timur. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan upright sedge. Nama ilmiah Carex stricta pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Jean-Baptiste Lamarck pada tahun 1792.
