Carex ultra merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan cochise sedge. Nama ilmiah Carex ultra diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Liberty Hyde Bailey pada tahun 1887.
