Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Brazil selatan hingga Argentina bagian utara. Nama ilmiah Castilleja arvensis var. pastorei pertama kali dipublikasikan pada tahun 2018.
