Cenchrus longispinus merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Amerika Utara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan mat sandbur. Nama ilmiah Cenchrus longispinus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Eduard Hackel pada tahun 1943.
