Cenchrus setigerus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Sahara hingga Indo-China bagian barat dan Tanzania. Nama ilmiah Cenchrus setigerus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Martin Vahl pada tahun 1806.
