Cenchrus tristachyus adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Venezuela hingga Amerika Selatan bagian barat dan Argentina barat laut. Nama ilmiah Cenchrus tristachyus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Sigismund Kunth pada tahun 1898.
