Centaurea benedicta merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa hingga Xinjiang. Nama ilmiah Centaurea benedicta pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carolus Linnaeus dalam Species Plantarum tahun 1763.
