Centaurea jacea subsp. substituta merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa timur hingga Kaukasia. Nama ilmiah Centaurea jacea subsp. substituta diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Sergei Kirillovich Czerepanov pada tahun 1999.
