Centaurea niederi merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari Yunani barat (N of Mesolongion). Nama ilmiah Centaurea niederi pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Theodor Heinrich Hermann von Heldreich pada tahun 1860.
