Centaurea rigida merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Mediterania timur hingga Iraq. Nama ilmiah Centaurea rigida pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Joseph Banks pada tahun 1794.
