Centrosema brachypodum merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Brazil timur dan selatan hingga Paraguay. Nama ilmiah Centrosema brachypodum diperkenalkan oleh George Bentham pada tahun 1839.
