Ceratophyllum australe merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Ceratophyllaceae. Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh di air (hidrofit) dalam bentuk semak. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis. Nama ilmiah Ceratophyllum australe pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis August Heinrich Rudolf Grisebach pada tahun 1879.
