Cestrum morretense merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Solanaceae (suku terong-terongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Brazil (Paraná). Nama ilmiah Cestrum morretense diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Joaquim Franco de Toledo pada tahun 1953.
