Cestrum nitidum merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Solanaceae (suku terong-terongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Meksiko. Nama ilmiah Cestrum nitidum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Martin Martens pada tahun 1845.
