Kemuning adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan dari famili Rutaceae (suku jeruk-jerukan). Nama ilmiah Chalcas exotica pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Charles Frederick Millspaugh pada tahun 1895.
