Charpentiera ovata merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Kepulauan Hawaii (Oahu, Maui, Hawaii). Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan koolau range papala. Nama ilmiah Charpentiera ovata pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Charles Gaudichaud-Beaupré pada tahun 1829.
