Chionochloa rubra subsp. cuprea merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Pulau Selatan Selandia Baru (termasuk Pulau Stewart). Nama ilmiah Chionochloa rubra subsp. cuprea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Henry Eamonn Connor pada tahun 1991.
