Rumput jejarongan adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan semusim atau menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Chloris barbata ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis dan subtropis Afrika, Eropa dan Asia. Nama ilmiah Chloris barbata pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Olof Peter Swartz pada tahun 1797.
