Chrysopogon gryllus adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa tengah hingga China (Yunnan). Nama ilmiah Chrysopogon gryllus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Bernhard von Trinius pada tahun 1820.
