Chrysopogon plumulosus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Niger, Sudan, Tanzania, hingga Jazirah Arab. Nama ilmiah Chrysopogon plumulosus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Christian Ferdinand Friedrich Hochstetter pada tahun 1847.
