Cinnamomum caryophyllus merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Lauraceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Vietnam. Nama ilmiah Cinnamomum caryophyllus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama João de Loureiro pada tahun 1925.
