Cirsium helenioides adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa timur hingga Siberia tengah dan Xinjiang. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan melancholy thistle. Nama ilmiah Cirsium helenioides pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis John Hill pada tahun 1768.
