Cistanche aethiopica merupakan tumbuhan holoparasit dari famili Orobanchaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Ethiopia barat laut. Nama ilmiah Cistanche aethiopica pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Günther Beck von Mannagetta und Lerchenau pada tahun 1890.
