Cistanche phelypaea merupakan tumbuhan holoparasit dari famili Orobanchaceae yang tumbuh menahun. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Macaronesia, Mediterania barat dan tengah, hingga Sahara. Nama ilmiah Cistanche phelypaea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis António Xavier Pereira Coutinho pada tahun 1913.
