Citharexylum costaricense merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Verbenaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko (Jalisco, Michoacán), hingga Amerika tengah. Nama ilmiah Citharexylum costaricense pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Harold Norman Moldenke pada tahun 1934.
