Citrullus colocynthis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cucurbitaceae (suku labu-labuan) yang tumbuh dalam bentuk perdu kecil atau semak. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan colocynth. Nama ilmiah Citrullus colocynthis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Heinrich Adolph Schrader pada tahun 1838.
