Coix lacryma-jobi var. stenocarpa merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Himalaya timur hingga Indo-China. Nama ilmiah Coix lacryma-jobi var. stenocarpa diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Daniel Oliver pada tahun 1888.
