Cola gigas merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Nigeria. Nama ilmiah Cola gigas pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis John Gilbert Baker pada tahun 1913.
