Cola heterophylla merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis Afrika barat dan barat-tengah. Nama ilmiah Cola heterophylla pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Ambroise Marie François Joseph Palisot de Beauvois pada tahun 1832.
