Costus acanthocephalus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Costaceae. Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk akar rimpang. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Sumatra. Nama ilmiah Costus acanthocephalus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Karl Moritz Schumann pada tahun 1899.
