Pacing hias merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Costaceae. Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk akar rimpang. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah. Nama ilmiah Costus malortieanus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Hermann Wendland pada tahun 1863.
