Croton cajucara merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis Amerika selatan. Nama ilmiah Croton cajucara pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis George Bentham pada tahun 1854.
