Croton ellipticus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Jawa. Nama ilmiah Croton ellipticus pertama kali dipublikasikan pada tahun 1807.
