Croton insularis merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Queensland timur, New South Wales timur laut, Vanuatu, hingga Kaledonia Baru (termasuk Kepulauan Loyauté). Nama ilmiah Croton insularis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Henri Ernest Baillon pada tahun 1862.
