Croton leptostachyus merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kolombia hingga Venezuela. Nama ilmiah Croton leptostachyus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Sigismund Kunth pada tahun 1817.
