Croton morifolius merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga Venezuela utara. Nama ilmiah Croton morifolius pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Ludwig von Willdenow pada tahun 1805.
