Croton petraeus merupakan tumbuhan perdu atau perdu kecil dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Brazil (Minas Gerais). Nama ilmiah Croton petraeus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Johannes Müller Argoviensis pada tahun 1873.
