Croton sylvaticus merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika dan Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Croton sylvaticus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Christian Ferdinand Friedrich Hochstetter pada tahun 1845.
