Cymbopogon clandestinus merupakan tumbuhan semusim atau menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Myanmar, Thailand, hingga Kepulauan Andaman. Nama ilmiah Cymbopogon clandestinus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck pada tahun 1929.
