Cymbopogon densiflorus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari kawasan tropis Afrika bagian barat-tengah dan selatan hingga Tanzania. Nama ilmiah Cymbopogon densiflorus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Ernst Gottlieb von Steudel pada tahun 1919.
