Cymbopogon microstachys merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari anak benua India hingga China (Yunnan selatan). Nama ilmiah Cymbopogon microstachys pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Joseph Dalton Hooker pada tahun 1977.
