Cymbopogon tortilis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari China selatan, Vietnam, Taiwan, hingga kawasan Malesia tengah dan timur. Nama ilmiah Cymbopogon tortilis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Jan Svatopluk Presl pada tahun 1925.
