Cyperus acuminatus merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika Serikat hingga Meksiko timur laut. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan tapertip flatsedge. Nama ilmiah Cyperus acuminatus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama John Torrey pada tahun 1836.
